Welcome

Congratulations on your upcoming birth! It’s Jewish custom to wish expectant families, “B’sha’ah tovah,” meaning, “In a good hour.” May your baby be born at the right time!

GentleBjorn is the doula arm of Gentle Family Medicine, my future family practice as a naturopathic family physician and maternity care provider.

I currently offer birth doula services in the Seattle metropolitan area, both for moms and for partners or siblings. However, as I am now attending births with area midwives as a student midwife, my availability as a doula is limited. Contact me for availability information!

For moms, I'm a birth doula, helping you find your rhythm, keep your focus, and helping you express your wishes to hospital staff. If there's no partner in the picture, I can be your coach, and I'll be there throughout your whole labor and birth.

The Daddy Doula is a new concept I am pioneering in the doula world. I know how out of control birth can feel for partners. I'm there to help you help the laboring mom, to remind you what you learned in childbirth ed., make suggestions on how to provide comfort, and create a little buffer zone around your little family. The phrase “Daddy Doula” is a product of alliteration and is not meant to exclude non-male partners -- if you want help being there for your partner, I can be there for you.

If you're planning a homebirth and have other children in the home, I can provide age-appropriate explanations respectful of your family's beliefs, as well as constant care to take the other kids in and out of the room as their interest and energy (and your wishes!) allow.

Interested in my services? Questions about me or naturopathic medicine? Check out About Me for contact information.

Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and rewarding birth,

--Elias
